1. Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account or using Pennyscout ("Service", "we", "our"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Description of Service
Pennyscout is a personal financial tracking application. It allows you to connect financial accounts via Plaid, view balances and transactions, track net worth, create budgets, and use an AI-powered financial assistant. The Service is intended for personal, non-commercial use only.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and a resident of the United States to use this Service. By using the Service, you represent that you meet these requirements.
4. Account Responsibilities
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
- You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
- You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.
- You are responsible for the accuracy of any financial institution connections you create.
5. Plaid Integration and Bank Connectivity
By connecting a financial institution, you authorize Pennyscout and Plaid to access your financial data on your behalf. You agree to Plaid's End User Privacy Policy available at plaid.com/legal. You can revoke Plaid's access at any time by disconnecting institutions in the app or through the Plaid Portal.
6. Subscription Plans and Billing
Pennyscout offers free and premium subscription tiers. Premium subscriptions are billed on a monthly or annual basis via Stripe. All fees are non-refundable except as required by law. We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days' notice.
7. Permitted Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any commercial purpose or on behalf of a third party
- Attempt to access another user's account or data
- Use the Service in any way that violates applicable laws or regulations
- Reverse engineer, scrape, or attempt to extract our systems or data
- Use the AI Financial Assistant for purposes other than personal financial guidance
8. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of financial data retrieved from third-party institutions. The AI Financial Assistant does not provide financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. Always consult a qualified professional before making financial decisions.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Pennyscout shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service, including any loss of data, financial losses, or damages resulting from reliance on information provided by the AI assistant.
10. Termination
You may close your account at any time by contacting us. Upon termination, we will delete all of your personal data and financial records from our systems within a reasonable time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
11. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms. We will update the "Last updated" date above.
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, without regard to conflict of law principles.
